This Nickel Silver Wire is a traditional alternative to sterling silver.....and probably one of the most misunderstood metals!
First, this wire does not contain any silver, but yes, does contain nickel. This is CDA #752 alloy (65% copper, 17% zinc, 18% nickel)
Second, it does go by a LOT of other names such as German Silver Wire, Argentann, Paktong, New Silver, Nickel Brass,or Alpacca Silver.
Third, some segment of the population WILL have a reaction to it called Contact Dermatitis. We can't find any reliable figures, but the most common problem is with pierced earrings.
Last, most of us come into contact with Nickel Silver EVERY day. It is the most common metal used in zippers, keys, musical instruments, model railroad tracks as well as many coins, plumbing fittings, silverware and jewelry.
Nickel Silver has a bright silver tone, it resists tarnishing and is both strong and durable....oh yes, it is inexpensive!
This wire is dead soft....for nickel silver, which is a little harder than copper and this will work harden very quickly.
