Tips for achieving A Good Patina

When trying to Patina there are two products that we recommend using to do so.

They are our Best Patina Gel & our Best Patina Powder

The Best Patina Powder comes as a  4 ounce container of Liver of Sulfur Powder which mixes to create a gallon of solution! Just mix a little at a time and you will be able to use this with hundreds of projects, or if you are like us, thousands of jump rings! This Liver of Sulfur Powder is mixed with water and then the metal can be dipped to create a unique old look - in minutes! We are frequently asked how to create an antique finish on metals - this is a traditional option! We use this on nickel silver, rich low brass, yellow brass, bronze, copper and sterling silver.

The Best Patina Gel can be brushed on or the metal can be dipped to create a unique old look - in minutes! This is available in a 2 ounce or 4 ounce bottle. We dilute this when we use it, so you will be able to use this with hundreds of projects, or if you are like us, thousands of jump rings! It is shelf stable, so you will not have to worry about it getting weak. We use this on nickel silver, rich low brass, yellow brass, bronze, copper and sterling silver.

Tips for achieving a good patina:

- Your metal needs to be clear of oils or existing tarnish
- Warming the metal may make the reaction better
- Warming the solution may give better results
- Using distilled water may give better results (treated municipal water messes things up)
- More dilute solution may been needed, more is not always better
